Ground Water Replacement of Polymer Ultra Filtration System

ItN Nanovation started its ground water pre-filtration development in 2009 with a piloting plant for its first client in Buraydah, Qassim.

The existing plant using polymer ultra filtration system was operating under unstable conditions at high operational expenses. The client's focus was an improvement of the qualities by implementing a new ultra filtration system. After three months piloting ItN had reached complete satisfaction of the Client.
Only three months later the first CFM Systems® trains with a capacity of 600 m3/hr was set into operation. One year later, two additional trains were installed. All three trains have been running stably and reliably.

Thanks to the improved quality of water filtered by CFM Systems® all subsequent process steps, e.g. cartridge filters and reverse osmosis membranes are operating under very stable conditions. Replacement and chemical cleaning intervals have been extended, resulting in additional and significant OPEX savings.

The targeted implementation of a radium removal process by HMO adsorption led to an improved product water Quality, meeting all international standards for drinking water quality. After blending, the total radium concentration is now permanently less than 5.0 pCi/L.

In addition, annual water savings of about 800,000 m³ have been generated by the increased recovery rate of CFM Systems®. The existing backwash waste recovery systems have been put out of operation, simplyfying the plant's operation to a great extent.
