Mobile Sewage Treatment Plant Field Test

The access to clean drinking water is a human right and one of the Millenium goals of Turkey. In order to ensure clean drinking water sources Turkey has to treat their sewage streams, as per percolation, which leads to groundwater pollution - a big problem in Turkey. Whereas water reuse offers a climate independent water source that is dependable, controlled locally and generally beneficial to the environment.

In August 2013 ItN started a project together with its sales partner in Turkey TEKNIK DEBI and the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI). ItN presented a new technology in form of a MBCR Filtration Container with advanced technology for water reusing. This allows a beneficial and efficient uses of high quality, locally produced and sustainable water source for a betterment of society and environment. This pilot study project with excellent laboratory test results, successfully finalized 2015, demonstrated the high quality of the Ceramic Flat Membranes and its reliability and durability on a long run real case study.

    Project Targets    

      • Maximization of the throughput rate with respect to biological degradation of the substances:
      • BOD5, COD, TSS, Ntot, NO3-N, NH4-N, Ptot (without precipitation)
      • Proof of the flux output of 30 L/m² membrane and hour
      • Proof of the hygienization of the clear water effluent for reuse of the treated waste water
      • Present of the cost benefit (CAPEX & OPEX) when using the MBR/MBBR processes by means of CFM membranes

      Capacity    

      • 45 m³/d (process capacity)

       

      The MBCR Compact Filtration Container is a unique tool to treat municipal and industrial waste water for smaller entities up to about 3.000 PE. The big advantages are shown during the trial at Ataköy plant and can be summarized as follows:

      • Easy and simple to install, plug and play technology
      • Smallest possible footprint
      • Standard units installed in 20 and 40 ft. Containers with capacities between
        40 – 100 m3 per day
      • Less maintenance requirements – suitable for rural areas
      • Less sludge produced
